Pros

Old Navy is a perfect place to work if you're still in highschool and don't mind working 3 hours shifts and maybe get 12 hours a week. Old Navy offers an ok discount on the merchandise, you receive recognition and feedback once in awhile for a job well done, although the management usually just takes all the credit. The majority of non-management employees are great people and make for a better experience for a first job. LIttle supervision for those people who like to stand around and talk all day rather than work. Management sits in the office for the most part.

Cons

Old Navy gives few hours, offers few full time positions, don't count on being a regular full time associate unless you're in management. Old Navy offers benefits for full and part time employees, but the benefits for part time employees suck and don't cover as many expenses, they are also outrageous in cost and anyone working part time could never afford the insurance anyway. They may pay for a college course here and there if youre a full time employee, but make sure you read the fine print. They do not take entry level candidates for various positions. $38,000 down the drain for school and no where to go.

Pros

- LGBTQIA+ friendly environment - Will work with your schedule (great for students) - Nice managers - Decent pay (at least in comparison to other nearby retailers) - Great employee discount

Cons

The constant pressure to sell credit cards is beyond ridiculous. This is the main reason for my departure as it made me dread coming into work. If you aren't selling enough, you'll be made to feel like you're doing something "wrong" even if you're asking every customer if they'd like to sign up. It feels bad enough having people do a hard inquiry on their credit report for a card they may not even get approved for (and if they do they'll be faced with absurdly high interest rates), but the pressure to sell as many as possible makes it worse!

Pros

Care about employees actually taking their breaks. The scheduling is also very flexible. I also liked the LUYL hub where employees could earn points that could be spent on rewards. The other brand associates were also very kind and helpful.

Cons

The cards are pushed too much, especially for what it is. A lot of what leadership thought of you was dependent on how well you sold the card. The general manager specifically would talk down to us a lot about card and job performance. There was also a group of managers that would talk behind the employees backs, especially if that employee had just put in their notice. This may just be an issue at my location, however it created a very unprofessional environment. If you needed to call out of work for whatever reason (i.e family emergency, illness) they would ask you if you could still come in to work a later shift.
