Pros

This review is on Old Republic Home Protection (a subsidiary of Old Republic International) Big on Employee Engagement - lots of activities and events for employees.

Cons

Horrible Leadership. Managers lack empathy and coaching skills. From day one, they lead you on thinking you are in great company with the number of social activities. But the company is overall very toxic and will have you being stressed out at the end of the day.

Pros

Everyone I worked with was very nice, corporate office was in a great location, expected work hours are fantastic (sub-40), never understaffed. Pay and benefits are largely average with one exception - the 401K "match" is not a a match the way every other company on earth uses that term. Rather, if profits are high enough and if you work there for that full calendar year, you can receive "up to" the match percentage. I ended up with a zero percent match.

Cons

Procedures are hilariously outdated - the majority of the accounting records are hand keyed and stored on paper - which makes the department extremely inefficient and a lot of the work is rote and frankly boring. There's minimal room to grow in your role, partially because of the overall discomfort with change and partially because there just isn't enough work to grow into. Whatever long term plan they have to deal with their technology being mothballed or an ever decreasing candidate base is unclear.
