Pros

- Great bonuses - Very entrepreneurial - Start managing projects early on - lots of responsibility - Great people, young at heart - Global staffing opportunity

Cons

- More unstructured compared to other consulting firms - No formal titles -- e.g. when you become a manager, a senior manager - Not many with MBAs so may seem a bit immature from a age perspective - Sometimes feel like a place with fiefdoms because of the lack of structure

Pros

Relatively young firm, easy to meet new people and make friends with the younger consultants in the office.

Cons

Just to set things clear, this review only applies to the Financial Services side of Oliver Wyman. I do not have first-hand information on the situation at the former Mercer Management. Horrible work-life balance, unfair review system, BORING work (I mean really boring, back-office risk management type of projects). Please, if you are at a decent school and have some brains, do not waste your time interviewing for OW-FS. It offers no exit opportunities to better jobs.

Pros

Oliver Wyman provides great opportunities to work with a variety of people in a variety of locations and industries right after you join. Unlike most management consultancies, you get a lot of say in the industry you prefer, which makes it easier to pick your expertise, your managers, and your teammates.

Cons

Unfortunately, nobody has heard of us. I constantly find myself explaining who we are and I am often apologetic for it. The rebranding effort was a failure - the Mercer brand was stronger - and recent cutbacks in recruiting have further dropped our brand recognition.
