Pros

The people here are really what makes Omada stand out. Just about everyone is smart and talented, but also incredibly friendly and approachable. This is a place where you can ask questions and have people actually want to answer and help you. Omada also really respects work-life balance and actively tries to promote and practice it, from the top down. This is a company that actually follows through with the "flexible vacation" policy and you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else that does this just as well.

Cons

Being nice seems to be a permeating requirement of working and succeeding at Omada, which can compromise discussions that require direct, straightforward feedback. It's a little ironic, given how honesty is one of Omada's core internal values. Disagreement and giving constructive criticism either has to be cushioned with a lot of positivity or is only taken kindly to when it comes from the top. Additionally, senior-level managers/execs can sometimes seem out of touch with what employees really care about in terms of the work, employing an attitude of optimism that can seem uninformed at best and alienating at worst.

Thanks for taking the time to share the feedback. We are indeed fortunate and grateful to have an amazing staff filled with smart, talented, mission-driven, kind, and approachable Omadans. My hope is that -- as you share -- our bias toward positivity isn't at odds with direct, straightforward feedback. I don't believe it needs to be. Step 1 to further this is the Omada Growth program, which as you know, our People & Culture team recently implemented. A big piece of this is to encourage our employees to give honest and live feedback, whether it be to their peers, managers, or direct reports. And in that vein, if you have any feedback about how the Omada Growth program is going, don’t hesitate to chat with me directly (I’d love to hear it!). In addition, in working with our managers and executives, we launched the Omada Manager Exchange in 2016 to give managers the tools to best support their team, and how to give feedback is of course a critical piece here. We’ll continue to build on this program in the coming year to alleviate some of that disconnect that you may feel now. Again, I’d love any feedback, positive or negative. Best, Sean

Pros

No HR, salad for days, no personal desk space, very flat organization.

Cons

no real autonomy in work, no clear avenues for career progression, very little cross-team collaboration, managerial memes and handwaves instead of actual change or improvement.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am really sorry that your experience at Omada hasn’t leant you the managerial support and career progression that you are (rightfully) seeking. Our People and Culture Team is currently working on two projects that we’re hoping will address your major concerns. First, we recently implemented weekly trainings to teach Omada’s managers how to listen with open ears and empower those who they manage. We plan on continuing and growing these manager trainings to ensure that each employee gets what he/she needs to thrive. Secondly, we are implementing a new performance evaluation process this fall. The goal of this system is to create clearer avenues for career progression, and to allow for ongoing feedback across the organization (peer to peer, manager to direct report, direct report to manager, etc.). I know there’s a lot to do, and appreciate your advice on how we can accomplish it! Feel free to email people@omadahealth.com if you have any additional questions or comments. Hope you’ll stay along for the ride! Sean

A perfect place for rockstars who play well with others

Pros

Omada has a collaborative environment, yet supports strong individual talent and fearless voices. People are hired not just because of what they have done and can do, but because they boast a rare combination of creative balls and team spirit, healthy skepticism and unfailing positivity, love of hard work and intolerance of boredom. Working here, you feel very strongly that you are part of a group of equals, regardless of titles or salaries. Despite being a model digital health startup, there's a delightful lack of egomania.

Cons

Fast-growing teams are learning the limits of tap-on-the-shoulder communications and ironing out how to keep each other informed and in sync.
