Pros

You are not alone. Everyone hates it.

Cons

Be careful to view reviews by geography as there are offices in both the US and India. Each locations have their issues. I will be speaking to the Minneapolis office. This company is run by a few emotional narcissists who will cut off their nose to spite their face. Even though they desperately need staff, they will not promote anyone internally except when they decide that you have fulfilled a list of requirements that is never provided to you. At no point in time was I given any feedback that would allow me to learn or grow in my role. When I proved myself in my role, I was still held back from certain responsibilities because I was not “ready” despite not being told what I needed to do to become “ready.” I cannot express how proactive I was in attempting to make this role work. I recognize that all companies have negative qualities but the vindictive nature of the executives, the culture of abuse, and the fact that you are unable to get a meeting with HR all combine to a highly abusive work environment. This micromanagement of hours that have been reported on in many of the reviews not only shows a lack of trust in the middle managers to handle their own staff, but it also allows for no leniency for the fact that their employees are human. If you take a role in this company, get ready to be abused, micromanaged, and not supported in any way shape or form. During my one and only review, even though I had demonstrated my work ethic and had no issues with any of the work, a manager did still find something negative to say. Since she could not critique my work, she made a comment with no base about my personality 6 month prior. This company does not want you to succeed. They want you to settle and put up with their abusive practices for far less pay than market average.

Pros

There's a big parking lot and you receive a paycheck.

Cons

I worked at OATI for ~1 year. My biggest advice for this company is that if you need a job and they have offered, take it. But - do NOT stop looking for a new job. If you're having a hard time finding employment, it's still a paycheck. But regardless, do not stop looking! Hours are very strict - you cannot be a minute past 8:00 AM or there will be an automatic e-mail sent to your everyone on the hierarchy scale. Employees will line up at 5:00 PM at the door to badge out as early as they can without getting any e-mails sent. Computers are out of date. I could hardly work on my computer using any adobe product. Constant computer problems. Rarely were there laptops - most had a desktop. HR sent out a mass e-mail stating that we have one hour of break per day. *Including* bathroom breaks, water breaks, breakfast breaks, coffee breaks, lunch breaks. Anything that required logging out of your computer or leaving your desk was considered apart of your one hour. I was told that I was a valuable employee - but that I would get a promotion 1-2 years from my start date. This would be a 30 cent promotion. Your managers have no idea what you are working on. We are required to complete a project log each Friday to send to our manager so they can micromanage because they do not socialize outside of their office even though it's an "open door policy" They let go of 40 people and sent out letters to these individuals on a Friday night. Employees were showing up to the gate and their badge did not work. They were let in by the front desk receptionists because none of the information was relayed to them!!!! E-mail and IM chats are monitored. Legitimately - monitored. Immensely under-payed. We had graphic designers start and our company wouldn't pay for more adobe licenses and made it the employees' issue to figure out. Zero communication to employees from management. Employees are not valued because they view them replaceable. Tend to get paid every 2.5 weeks instead of every other week. The dates shake out pretty weird.

Pros

Pays the bills! A good place to start your career and gain some experience of how things work!

Cons

Most of the things that are mentioned on Glassdoor are true, although they may sound ironic to an outsider. Read them carefully! OATI has a few old projects that have created a constant stream of stable money, but it struggles on new projects. There are very few good people working at the company, but otherwise, there are many people (read managers, as nearly half of the US office is managers) that cannot perform well in any setting. The turnover is ridiculously high! They try to hire people with the lowest possible salary, so everyone is looking for jobs a few months after they are hired. Anyone that is good enough to be hired elsewhere will leave the company and anyone who can't, will stay for a very long time, so OATI has ended up with a lot of terrible employees. The India office is the same: a few good developers but mostly mediocre ones. A project that should last one month in a typical software company will probably last at least six months at OATI due to many rounds of back and forth debugging with the India office. All other stuff are already mentioned many times here. Lost of micromanagement, etc.
