Thanks for sharing your feedback, and we love hearing that the energy and growth opportunities at OpenGov made a positive impact during your time here. You’re right that the public sector can move more slowly when adopting new technologies, and that’s exactly what motivates us. The challenge comes with tremendous opportunity, and we’re proud to power more effective and accountable government. Thank you for your contributions to that mission!

Pros

As a new hire, what stood out immediately at OpenGov is how clearly the mission and values show up in everyday work. There’s a strong sense of purpose around serving the public sector, and it’s reflected in how teams approach decisions, prioritize impact, and hold themselves accountable. The culture feels intentional, focused on doing meaningful work while continuing to learn and improve. The people have been welcoming, thoughtful, and direct. Colleagues across functions are willing to share context and collaborate, which makes onboarding and ramping much easier. There’s an expectation that you show up prepared, take ownership, and contribute, but also that you ask questions and learn. It’s clear this is a place where you’re trusted to do your job and expected to put in the work.

Cons

The pace is fast and expectations are high, which can feel intense at times, especially as a new hire. As the company continues to grow, some processes and cross-functional coordination are still evolving. If you’re comfortable with change and learning on the fly, this environment will likely feel energizing rather than frustrating.
