Pros

Been working for a year. Got acquired from a previous software company, as most of the people working for Opentext. The pay is ok (but inherited from previous company, not negotiated with OT), the atmosphere is alright, nothing to write home about. They are respectful of your private life and make an effort to make sure your job does not interfere with it, which is really good. OT is very tight when it comes to salary reviews. Benefits OK. Integration into OT was swift and effective. They obviously have a lot of practise in this respect. Working from home is not encouraged but it is allowed.

Cons

For a company with so many acquired products, there is a serious lack of cross-training, or training at all for that matter. Management wants you to stay focused on what you used to do before being acquired. CEO loves talking but does not say much. A lot of generic comments on IT and its evolution and how fast OT grows by acquiring others, but no sense of direction or purpose. No real strategy other than growing by buying others. I like the fact he voices his opinion when he thinks something is not fair (political decisions in some countries etc) As with many other IT companies, periodic layouts are a constant. They are making some redundant while at the same time they hire others. I guess someone decided this keeps shareholders happy, but does not help staff to feel very commited to the cause.
