OptionsCity is a place where I feel I have grown a lot from both a professional and personal level. We build options trading software and we solve some interesting and difficult technical challenges on a daily basis. There are many very smart people who push you to be better and from which I have learned a lot.
The company is not big and that leads to a number of good things, in my opinion. Everybody is expected to contribute in a meaningful fashion and there isn’t a lot of places to “hide.” There is opportunity to contribute in many ways outside of your “job description".
In general, the whole organization is made up of people that it are nice to work with and great to hang-out outside of work.
Cons
Because we are dealing with financial technology and cater to very demanding customers, the day can be stressful at times. Also, for the amount of work there is, I feel that the engineering team should be bigger.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback. I am very glad that you have grown and developed on a professional level here at OptionsCity. I feel that one of the advantages OptionsCity offers, that others may not be able to, is the ability to learn a lot, grow and contribute across multiple areas of the company regardless of your "job description" as you put it.
While the nature of the financial industry may lead to a higher degree of stress then other industries, it is something that we are actively looking at and working on addressing. As you mentioned as well, we are a lean team, but hiring is one of my top priorities.
For any follow ups, you know where to find me.
Thanks,
Victor
This is overall a great company to work for. There are many opportunities for professional growth and advancement. The culture/environment is friendly, fun and collaborative. There is a lot to learn from coworkers. The company sponsors a lot of employee/team-building events to maintain the collaborative environment. Management has an open door policy and encourages feedback/ideas from everyone in the company, and they take it seriously. There are frequent company meetings that keep everyone informed of the company's performance. The company benefits are great too.
Cons
It can get stressful at times, but that's the nature of the industry.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad to hear that you feel that OptionsCity offers opportunities for career growth and development. Ensuring that all our employees continually learn and grow professionally is very important to us, and to me personally, as one of the co-founders. We also do not shy away from/at social gatherings outside of work, and many have called the Holiday party “epic”.
You are correct in identifying that the day-to-day can be stressful at times. Our customers are proprietary trading firms, financial institutions and these are, in my opinion, a very demanding customer group. Our support staff does an excellent job supporting our software and they are, in addition to Sales and Account Management, the main customer-facing groups. Our engineers solve some interesting technical challenges on a daily basis and we believe that customer interactions across all facets of the company make for better software.
Thanks,
Victor

First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review. Second, I agree that we have a group of very smart people making up the OptionsCity team, across all aspects of the company. Third, I am sorry that things did not work out and you decided to continue your career somewhere else.
As the CTO of OptionsCity I take the quality of all the software we produce extremely seriously. There is nothing more important to me than ensuring that our customers have a positive experience using the software. We build software used by a wide range of trading institutions across the globe with positive feedback across the board.
Are things perfect? Building software never is. We are not afraid of change in the pursuit of a better product and that comes with some risk. There will always be issues that arise. What separates us from the rest is our ability and commitment to address those issue effectively and efficiently.
I would love to discuss this further. Feel free to email me at victor@optionscity.com, or if more comfortable, please reach out to Human Resources at hr@optionscity.com.
