Pros

Not any. Really. None. Zip.

Cons

I could rant forever. The pay is super low. I've been applying elsewhere and everyone pays 2x what they do. Also, don't even think twice about presenting new ideas or thinking you will be involved in projects as a new person. Employees who have been with the company for decades will run you into the ground if they remotely see you as a threat. It is a "manage them out" mentality the moment you show signs of fresh ideas. They would rather keep old systems/old excel sheets because management feels the need to please people who have been with the company decades. Once they start trying to "manage you out" they will give the ones that have been with company for decades pats on the back (literally). They are called "bravos". They are too delusional to see that making your work more difficult will cause your performance to decline. Show resilience? They will make your life harder. Have new ideas? They won't let you execute them and call it a bad idea so that someone else can tweak your idea and make it their own. Sick? Need time off? Play catch up when you return. Performing better than others even with threatening illness? Errt. It will hurt people's feelers. They will run you to the ground. Have formal training, experience, or education in your field? Don't bother thinking you can use it. They will listen to favorites who think being with the company longer gives more insight.... even ops is starting to not see value in your department.

Pros

Good experience Okay job security Good industry position Easy to establish good work-life balance by setting the right boundaries

Cons

Have shifted most hiring offshore (some orgs are 60% offshore workforce currently and on pace to worsen, 90% open reqs are offshore) Poor financial systems (UHG prioritizes accounting first and healthcare second) Poor leaders (Majority of leaders get their role through survivorship rather than talent - when someone leaves, an existing next-in-line will inherit the role. Leadership talent has been steadily declining as a result and will eventually reach an inflection point)

Pros

Work life balance. Good quality equipment. Good PTO/Holiday balance. Provided business line to the house for work access. Diversity and inclusion is very evident across all aspects of the organization.

Cons

They don’t pay out PTO when you leave. Only employer I've ever had do this. They tell you one thing and another happens. They treat you like it’s a family only to find out it’s another cold business and you are just a number. Constant turnover in middle management. Goals/agendas change constantly because of this. You are using a program that is required because of the last leaders ideas and then having to do something else because of the new leaders agenda. Lot of time wasted not actually making change as a case manger. Poor raises. 4/5 star performance review. 1.75% raise. Bonuses are based on the health of the entire company and not your own division. Multiple resignations and unwilling to offer retention bonuses or overtime to make up for lost staff.
