Pros

When I worked there, the vibes were pretty great. I worked with a lot of great people, I got to do fun and/or interesting work and I felt like I mattered and effectively contributed. I stayed for many years because the environment was comfortable, the pay and benefits were good and I loved the people I worked with.

Cons

At least in the area I worked, there are almost no effective processes in place to get work done. There are some processes, of course, but it's a mess. Several people tried to change that but there wasn't enough buy-in from leadership. It's a huge company and there's not enough organization and communication between groups. So you end up with this siloed mess where no one know what any other group is doing. Some groups are actively trying to share and some are actively keeping the walls up. It was very frustrating. And of course, in mid-2025, Oracle started laying off people by the thousands (myself included). I've heard the culture has taken a significant hit since then.

Pros

Great opportunity to work on some of the largest cloud and AI infrastructure deployments in the industry. Talented colleagues, significant ownership, and exposure to complex global programs. Oracle is investing heavily in AI and cloud, creating opportunities to solve challenging problems at scale. Strong brand, competitive compensation, and the ability to make a meaningful impact while working with experienced leaders and engineers.

Cons

As with any large enterprise, navigating multiple organizations and stakeholders can slow decision-making, promotions and rewards can be limited. Priorities can shift quickly, especially in fast-growing areas like cloud and AI, requiring teams to be adaptable. Workload can be demanding during major initiatives, and career growth often depends on being proactive about seeking new opportunities.
