Pros

The people I worked with were amazingly supportive and kind. I cherished most of my students and our interactions. The ability to talk about God openly was a huge advantage. My department head did ever he could to support me.

Cons

The pay is really low, even for full time professors. They expect employees to work overtime without additional pay sometimes, which is unethical. Online instructors are expected to answer emails very promptly and grade quickly. If you don’t and you get a poor evaluation from a student, they may not renew your contract. The president runs the place like a church camp sometimes and has very little experience with higher education before he was hired. He got rid of many good professors that were not “yes men” and warned all who didn’t have PhDs that they would be replaced if they didn’t get the PhD ASAP. He would rather spend $$$ on faculty lunches and Christmas parties then use that money towards pay raises, then has the audacity to ask faculty for donations. The vast majority of advertising and funds is directed towards undergraduates and the poor grad students are left out many times. The grad scholarships are jokes. Housing is expensive not up to par except for maybe the new dorms. Grade inflation is a huge problem! Students feel entitled. Student support services caters to student athletes and the help they give is just executive function/homework helps without little help for students with LDs and EDs. Counselors on campus are few; there are long waits for appointments. There is a lot of turnover and position changes in auxiliary and lower level support staff, which makes communication between departments nightmarish, if existing at all.

Pros

Great community for Christian Fellowship.

Cons

A "busy" culture. A lot of work with a skeletal staff to do it, hence burnout.

Pros

Good people around you. Christian institution. Beautiful campus.

Cons

The president of the university; Billy Wilson. The president is very controlling of every department in many different ways. Cares a lot about his personal reputation and when people say anything bad about him he is firing someone or expelling a student. Employees are very scared of him. Not a good boss to my boss. Low pay in comparison to market rate.
