Get out. Been here a decade and it just keeps getting worse.
Pros
There's good health insurance. It is also a huge organization so there are a handful of supervisors and managers who are good to work for, but they are in the minority and are limited by HR are upper management.
Cons
This is the most heartless, soul sucking employer you can imagine. Aggressively anti-union. HR and department level administration exist solely to save face and save money. Pay is abysmal compared to similar employers. They completely restructured their research classifications in 2022 after realizing the titles were so bogus that it was literally impossible for them to adhere to pay equity laws. During that process, they held a town hall to answer questions about the new systems and paygrades. One person asked how cost of living was accounted for in the paygrades and, I kid you not, HR said "Cost of living is not a factor in determining paygrades, only cost of labor." Well, unfortunately the whole thing was a sham anyway because even with the new more specific classifications, they are still twisting things to keep people boxed into lower paying classifications even when they don't fit your job description. Real equitable. Being such a large institution, there are many, many, many smaller groups and each one has their own manager and supervisors. If you get lucky enough to have bosses who actually want to fight for you (promotions, market rate pay, etc.), they will often be denied by HR. If you are unlucky and have a boss who fosters an unsafe and/or unethical work environment (12+ hour days with no protected breaks, salaried but not allowed to flex your unpaid overtime, having PTO denied for no legitimate reason, etc.) then HR will protect them and basically tell you tough luck.
