Not a good job if you are a parent

No respect of personal time. Doesn’t matter if you already have family plans after your shift is supposed to be over, a job will get dropped on you and you have to do it or else you are either reprimanded or EXTRA jobs will get dropped on you the next day. Was promised to start earning production (commission)... 8 months later still nothing. The pay is not worth what you have to deal with, both in the office and out in the field.

First, we regret that this was your experience with Orkin and the location leadership team. Orkin does not condone the behavior you describe and does pay commission accordingly. We sincerely hope you communicated your concerns to your manager and region leadership, as additional assignments with late notice should be infrequent and communicated accordingly. Never the less, as we communicate with all new team members, the service business can be especially demanding during certain times of year and Orkin offers a promise for same day/next day starts when our customers are in great need. With that, THANK YOU for your hard work and sacrifice serving those customers and we hope you have found a role that is a better fit with your family.

Pros

-as a technician lots of opportunity for overtime -good health benefits in Canada if you are full-time

Cons

-Management is comprised mainly of traditional males -Low pay for expectation of duties and responsibility, especially for young people looking to start out their career -very dated systems in office and out in the field -training and procedures are not thorough enough for the type of work expected to be completed by those in office and out in the field

However, we do acknowledge some of your concerns in the areas of systems and training specifically. In fact, tools including new technology, BOSS, that are already deployed in the US are being rolled out to our Canadian locations.
