I am leaving this company after 8 years of peak performance due to a culture change that I can only label abusive and uncaring. This was not always true, but is absolutely the case for the Georgia Region.
The idea of a work life balance at this pest control company is laughable. The idea that you could ever succeed at a high enough level to simply be left alone is as well. The micro-management coupled with reports concerning other reports is….stifling.
I watched a division leading branch manager get suspended for a week over a “policy” which was not a policy. I have seen so much turnover in management in the last two years that I wonder how the region will survive. This turnover is due to repeated placement of unqualified leadership at the region level.
The current region manager, while initially VERY charismatic, is also prone to wild outbursts of screaming at her subordinates and insulting them openly. HR has been notified of this repeatedly and she still remains in position.
Training for our new managers has been poor, and the pay our new hires have received has made it extremely difficult to build teams.
The double speak surrounding all of this is one of the more frustrating elements. We are told how fortunate we are to work here…that people are receiving top pay…that the company has no problem investing in people. I found this to be false regarding both time and money.
Should you consider a BMT track at Orkin in the GA region I would strongly, strongly recommend you reconsider if you have marketable experience and are a mid to top level performer. I can’t think of a single reason I would recommend this job to anyone other than a person willing to deal with an exceptionally high level of stress in order to build a resume.
