      Pros

      I love working in Development, even though OB is a big international company, each location handles its own projects and specialties, so I get the more casual know-everyone and have my own niche feel here. I like having a lot of personal responsibility, and also having deep expertise around me to check in with. Management is local, and they are really friendly and easy to work with. The company has been very in-tune and quick responding to the pandemic. This is a great place to work.

      Cons

      OB is just getting on board with more FDA regulations, and so the production and testing is all addin and updating it's procedures. There's a handful of things still in tribal knowledge, but that is being amended now.

      Company with great purpose

      Pros

      The company mission is to help people maintain or regain their freedom of movement, which is incredibly rewarding. I work for the bionic exoskeleton business unit, so I get to travel to lots of interesting industrial companies to help their employees stay healthy and make their tasks less burdensome.

      A corporate family

      Pros

      At Ottobock, we are all driven by the mission to help amputees live the best life they can. The culture is great and people genuinely care about you as a person. Work is important, but especially with COVID, the benefit of Ottobock as a family-owned company shines through in their flexibility and understanding when extenuating circumstances arise.

      Cons

      The upper management generally fears big changes and is quite hesitant to upset the current structure of the organization. The pay/benefits are fairly competitive, but not not the best you can find in the medical device space.
