Pros

Even though there is a continuous loss year by year of the initial culture, there is still some remaining people that strive to keep it alive. Fast paced, learning culture, ask why... having direct go to management (captains) is something working well and should be kept. Great product and great market opportunity! Being part of something that can become really big!

Cons

Compensation (at least in PT) is basically rubbish... salary grid bands are kept updated with market data, but it is only marketing, because each band is divided in 3 (Less experienced and skilled, mid point, More experienced and skilled) and the large majority of people is in the left side of the bands, meaning that ultimately OutSystems employees are unskilled and inexperienced!!! It doesn’t make sense whatsoever...

Thank you for sharing your concerns and sorry to hear that our shared salary bands in Portugal are meaningless to you. The goal was exactly the opposite! We want to be transparent and to explain the "why" behind salary decisions. OutSystems offers much more than the compensation package you are eligible to. However, money matters and so here are the things we care about: we care about fairness and work to guarantee that similar contributions make similar money and we care about being competitive (making sure we progressively align our pay with market trends). The People Team is working to build a structure to manage compensation as objectively as possible and a lot of us think we are on the right track. If that’s not your case, please talk to us so we can better understand what is happening. Thank you.

Pros

- Cool benefits - Great incentives - Several opportunities to grow career - Equipment provided from day one

Cons

- General sense of oppression - No democracy to speak without risk of losing job - Refusal to issue contract before accepting employment (meaning, it is at the candidate's risk to leave their current employer should they be unhappy with contractual terms) - Micromanagement of personal life as well as professional life - Inability to discuss issues professionally without fear of disciplinary - More interested in control than in results. - Bullish attitude imposed through unnecessary escalations of managers when issues are raised

Pros

The platform is great and it delivers on the promised value. You have the chance to work on an amazing product and meet some great people

Cons

You can also meet not-so-great people. The HR don't really care about careers or persons, except if you are one of the selected few that are "friends" with someone in the department. Progression is not clear and is not real, people are promoted or demoted based on their lobbying and friendships and not on what they produce or really do. Too many clients abroad which can force you to travel a lot, travels are also made on weekends mostly, not being able to compensate those days normally.
