Simply Refuses to Modernize

Pros

Market share has not gone down yet, despite the lack of innovation and technology. The people who work there are nice, but no one gets too committed to a company that doesn't respect employee needs.

Cons

Very little done to keep employees happy. Vacation is 2 weeks. No paid leave for new mothers or fathers. Full formal attire for employees. They still force men to shave their faces. Company meetings look like funeral gatherings. They are out of step in the market and in the area.

A company that is stuck in the past

Pros

Stable company if you do not work on the actual manufacturing floor, otherwise they do big layoffs. In addition, there is a lot of opportunity to move around to different departments and try different positions. This company is good for someone on the tail end of their career looking to retire. Good work life balance. In an industry where the product doesn't need to change, but this could be looked at as a pro or a con.

Cons

- Too conservative of a culture - Stuck in the "times". - Terrible company for professional development. - Low compensation - Subject to economic cycles - High turnover - There's a reason why PACCAR is rated so slow already.

Pros

The PACCAR Corporate building is a very professional workplace where you know what to expect. The company also offers good benefits such as a 401K with match and a defined benefit pension.

Cons

The conservative environment and culture can seem outdated. Teams run very lean, which is good for costs but can sometimes lead to higher stress.
