Pros

Work life balance is excellent. If you like a gray work environment this is the place to be. Ultra conservative company. Programmed 'fun' events several times a year if you can get out of meetings to attend.

Cons

Low pay for the industry, lean project resources ensure you can't focus in just one. Management top heavy. 'Agile' methodology is really not agile, just a way to give nonsensical kpis in a pretty graph to management. Management also knows they are always right.

Succesful company, depressing place to work at

Pros

- Great stability, if you like working here or need steady income, you can likely stay here forever without getting fired or laid off. And they have cool pension. - Working constantly with outdated system can actually make you look really fast and proficient when you move to other companies to use up to date systems. - Having to work in business attire everyday can make you look like a pro in front of friends when dressing up for weddings or mafia themed parties.

Cons

- Managers are like gods in this company, don't disagree with them, pretend to really like everything they are into. - Your out of work personality and lifestyle is judged here and will affect your career development within the company. Since employee personalities are so suppressed at work, there are a lot of unhealthy gossiping floating around. Very old school and boring work environment, strict work hours without project based flexibility or much option to work from home.

Good Company But Company Culture Doesn't Fit Surrounding Society

Pros

PACCAR provides a lot of opportunities for employees. Internal movement is encouraged and managers often consider internal candidates prior to external. The company is stable and consistently shows a profit. Employees and management work hard and it shows. This company is lean but done in a way that works very well. Continuing education is promoted and employees have the opportunity to gain a lot of experience if they choose to.

Cons

The culture is still stuck in the 1960's and is pushed from the top down. Men are expected to wear suit and ties, no facial hair, and no visible tattoos. Women are expected to dress the equivalent, leggings if wearing a dress, natural colored hair, and no visible tattoos. Employees are expected to work form 8:00am to 5:00pm at the corporate office which is nice for consistency but is lacking when flexibility is needed. Other offices are on a core hours system which is more appropriate. The dress code doesn't match the surrounding society and PACCAR employees can easily be identified by the style when outside of the corporate office. Few customers dress the same and this becomes obvious during meetings with customers.
