Pros

PACCAR is a stable company, although the truck market is often cyclical. We are proud of the product that we produce. We also donate a fair amount to charityâ??s and educational institutions as a company. Tenure is long (although this can be good and bad).

Cons

Management is out of touch with the employee population and often hostile toward it. They rule by fear and often make decisions in a vacuum. The approval process is so convoluted and far reaching that by the time a decision is made the reason for it is lost in translation. â??Some things should be delegated to people how understand the decision their making. There is about zero employee communication and if you want/need to feel appreciated and part of a whole picture youâ??re not going to get it here. The company culture (especially at corporate) is stuffy and old (there is actually a restaurant on the top floor that only â??managementâ?? can go too...embarrassing. There is no such thing as flextime, compressed workweeks or telecommuting. The technology is horrible. You are not given the tools to produce the kind of work you would like too, or that management expects. Pay is not good even when the company was doing well. Benefits are mediocre at best.

Pros

Not many at corporate, the other division of the company were better to work for. The ability to move from division to division was encourage but rarely allowed. If you start at on of the other divsions stay there, do not move to the corp office. the ivory tower is a horible place to work and to exisit. The mgmt in the corp office short of the 6th flr Sr mgmt is out for themselfs. They do not encourage or assist anyone in moving forward. The continual inflow of ex-FORD motors execs and managers has distroyed the company from within. They brought a culture of defeat and distrust to the PACCAR employees, letting no on advace except their buddies

Cons

Way to Stuffy, overly conservative. The dress code is only enforced on the Men, Women can dress how they please and not very professional , men always in Suits and ties, white or blue shirts. any other color other than Dark suits is frowned upon and given snide remarks. the ability to adjust hours is not allowed. it is 8-5 and expectations are you are there at least 30 mins early and 1-2 hours late. you better not get sick or snowed in. you have to take vacation time if you can not get in for weather if the buiding is open you have to be there. no excuses, even if you had 2 feet of snow in your yard or no power you better get there.

Pros

PACCAR is a stable company.

Cons

The top-down, hierarchical management style is degrading. Starbucks, Pepsi, and Mercendez Benz brands were not allowed to be purchased by employees. Pepsi did not purchase PACCAR products, Mercedez Benz was a competitor, and Starbucks meant that you had wasted 'corporate time' in getting coffee. Fear tactics are established to keep their employees 'in line'.
