Pros

It's a great product, one that you can be proud of vs. having to apologize for at parties (e.g., defense contracting, pharma etc). Attractive work environment, good location.

Cons

Frequent layoffs, incompetent management who make bad decisions, wasteful management of public and private funding, and frankly, PBS's model has been antiquated. They simply haven't evolved. It's a sinking ship, sadly.

Interesting work, Smart and nice people committed to mission of public broadcasting.

Cons

Very little autonomy in most roles due to many decisions filtering through the very limited number of people at the top and this creates bottlenecks and lack of ingenuity and creativity. Long hours for some workers while others coast and make plenty of noise. Managers play favorites and promotions are not based on merit or actual work accomplishment but favoritism. There is a 'cool kids' culture here and if you're not part of it you don't get ahead.
