Pros

Most employees are enjoyable to work with while some only care about themselves and their book of business. Fun office environment most of the time.

Cons

The goals are extremely unrealistic in a saturated market. You are there to build a "book of business" which takes time and a lot of communication with companies. At PLS you have 2 months or you're out. What almost every employee and manager doesn't understand is simply how businesses work. A strong, reputable and stable company is not going to hand over the shipping responsibility to a non-asset based company in a few weeks - this takes a lot of time. PLS seem to think these things happen overnight. You're only successful in the short-term if you get handed strong customers from employees who quit or you strike a lucky shipment from a desperate company.

Pros

Freedom with schedule if you need off, low micromanagement.

Cons

Lack of leadership, guidance and help are rare, parking is terrible. Company isnt greatly organized, from top up. They do not assist with building your progress. You have 1 option, meet the goal or be let go of. Again, no help or guidance, so high turnover.

Pros

Super relaxed environment. It was nice because you could basically do whatever you want and wear whatever you want. Its very easy to take advantage of how much attention they do not pay to you. (Unfortunately this is actually a con for me, but the best pro I could come up with)

Cons

The training the first week was at cranberry & was the biggest waste of time, ever. The trainer gave us breaks about every 15 minutes and was sending emails/texts the entire time. He didnt seem to have enough information to give us so he came up with "busy work" worksheets for us to do that were completely ridiculous and unnecessary. Management was super nice, I loved them on a personal level, but on a managerial level, they were not efficient managers. They were putting in an honesty effort after many people were quitting & complaining about how things were being ran and I respect that but at the same time, there was so much that needed changed that I think it was even beyond their control. I believe 10 people quit in the time that I worked there. As great as it was to be able to basically have no dress code, it was also disheartening to see people come into work looking like slobs, being hung over or even still drunk and just not taking it seriously. They will tell you the hours are 8-5 (or at least that's what they told me) but they are actually 7:45-5:15. Parking at the Pittsburgh location is a pain because they offer no parking lot, so you have to fight for parking on the back streets and hope you don't get a ticket if you forget to move your car if you park in the two hour/permit parking areas. The office is pretty much a disaster, I don't think many of the employees parents taught them how to clean up after themselves. Aside from all of that, there isn't much room for growth. The best account executive was only making in about the 40k's .. which is hardly livable as an adult who is actually trying to achieve something in life. They will tell you that you can make so much money, but its unrealistic. The industry isnt doing well, a lot of drivers that you call to move loads will hang up on you because they don't want to work with PLS because they are said to be unethical & rude. Things will happen with loads that you cannot control and as an account executive, you may get a call at 3am with something going wrong and that is your responsibility to try and fix unless you want angry customers. PLS lost its biggest customer this year ... and that happened for a reason. ALSO. The billing department seems to not be doing their job because there are companies that never pay for PLS service .. and when they dont pay, YOU DONT GET PAID. For some reason that company says they cant "make" the customers pay which makes no sense to me. Please just dont waste your time.
