Pros

SE teams are fully remote but even then they make sure you don’t forget how much of a privilege that is. Cameras mandatory and constant threats of “back to office”. One pro is you can brag about working for a company that used to be a fortune 500.

Cons

The management from top to bottom has no clue how to run a software company. It is a low trust environment so the feedback loop including engineering is completely ignored or distrusted. They don’t care about teams’ capacity or velocity they take on shareholder and client requests whenever they can and just stuff new tickets into ADO and expect them to be completed. If you estimate work realistically they give you massive pushback. If you criticize anything during retro they will send in an engineering manager to tell you to shut up in not so few words. If you work in one of the engineering teams with revenue they expect you to work more than 40 hours per week and weekends once a month on average. They call themselves SAFe but it’s just waterfall masquerading as Agile. Trying to get licenses to tools or even seats in existing tools like feature flagging is impossible. The company operates in tribal warfare so there is a ton of gossip and negativity. They are completely opaque in how employees are evaluated and lie about it when questioned. They fire or reposition scrum leaders and project managers quarterly so there is 0 stakeholder management or even rapport. Textbook toxic work environment driven by directors who are surrounded by desperate and under-qualified management.
