Pros

PPD is willing to hire college grads that don't have any industry experience and get them trained up to cGMP standards, making it a great place to cut your teeth as a brand-new analytical chemist. Good exposure to a number of different analytical methods, including various HPLC and CE methods.

Cons

Their willingness to hire with no experience also leads to low pay relative to the rest of the industry. Advancement is nearly impossible as well. I know of several Assistant Scientists who have 2-3 years at PPD and always get told "you'll probably be promoted next year" when review time rolls around. Both of these factors lead to very high turnover in lower level employees.

Pros

Dynamic work environment, always interesting

Cons

Churn and Burn is the name of the game. Lower salary, less work life balance. Was hired with 8 people and wound up being 3 of us left after 2 years.

Pros

Good PTO, flexible hours, free coffee, decent work life balance.

Cons

Far less pay than industry average, less than COLA "raises," infrequent promotions to anyone outside of management, cut of fringe benefits and increase in insurances. Company promises promotion but fails to delivery at yearly cycles. Nothing is merit based, only tenure.
