Pros

Good pay, benefits, and co-workers

Cons

Working under the constant fear that if you make any mistake you will lose your job. Those mistakes can range from anything obvious to anything upper management wants to define as an error in order to punish a non-favorite employee. Promotions for undeserving individuals who get to move up in the corporate ladder every few months, only because they are favorites of upper management, not because they are capable of performing in the new role or even in their current role. Many of those individuals will trample on those under them in order to advance their own career. Department is constantly under staffed because of such a high turn over rate combined with how long of a training process new hires must undergo.

Pros

I'm really enjoying my adventure at PPL. The mission of protecting the power grid is one that is easy to get your hands around, thus everyone understands what they are working for and why. Leadership is driving a number of really fun transformation initiatives within the business units and in IT that are extremely valuable for my resume. Last but not least, I really enjoy the work/life balance that the company attempts to provide everyone. I highly recommend considering opportunities at PPL Electric Utilities.

Cons

If you've never worked at a Utility, there's a lot to learn, however, the long-term employees are more than happy to share their knowledge. Change seems to be a constant as well, so if you want a boring, mundane opportunity, don't look here.
