Definitely Not Recommend For Career Growth

Pros

Easy job, pretty stable employment (unless you're IT or when there's leadership change) especially if you suck up to management, pay is decent for low skills labor. This is a good stepping stone career or if you have strong connection with upper management.

Cons

No career growth, management is terrible and clueless of what they're doing, many wasted resources on higher level employees, ambition is perceived as a threat by others and will be discriminated against

Pros

Lots of learning. Empowered to do interesting work out of necessity (low head count). Gained many transferable skills.

Cons

Senior level management is clueless as to how a utility makes money. IT organization is a train wreck, many projects implemented failed because of poor IT management. Need people to manage systems. Cost cutting is valued at the detriment of future value.
