Feeling of accomplishment to help those who call into the hotline, and developing your own skills to better those in crisis.

Cons

The constant feeling of shortage. Shortage of staffing, resources, empathy from supervisors.

- flexible schedule - knowledge about additional services in the area - supportive supervisors and co-workers - good benefits and retirement plan - able to act in multiple social work roles - intrinsically rewarding - lots of freedom and ability to be creative with interventions

Cons

- stressful - no overtime pay - paperwork can be overwhelming at times - crises with clients do occur and can be a lot - takes some time at first to become comfortable with the job and the repsonsibilities
