Pros

Work life balance is great compared to other consulting work. 20 PTO days to start. PTC Professional Services is a great place to work if your job is nothing more than a paycheck.

Cons

Compensation is embarrassingly low for consultants. PTC claims that raises are based on a meritocracy, but in reality only those who complain constantly can expect to get a cost of living raise once every 2-3 years. Strong performers who complain infrequently can expect the same salary for 5+ years. Weak performers who are well connected are promoted to leadership roles. This creates a snowball effect where the new leaders continue to promote incompetent employees with similar personalities.

Pros

The company offers competitive pay and a very progressive benefit package, especially if you are a star performer...however that comes at a cost.

Cons

Some of the worst management you'll ever see. The company is run by a round table of good ole boys, naturally all white, and all male. Women and people of color are nowhere to be found in the C and executive levels here. The corporate policies and attitude among PTC's elite is nauseating. Just recently, all employees were removed from the company cell phone plan except the E level and above, claiming that is an industry standard. Completely untrue, none of my many contacts and acquaintances working for mid-large companies in the Boston area are experiencing such policies Project management is appalling as well. Software companies that grow as large as PTC have qualified leaders in order to be successful (think Microsoft, IBM). PTC has a habit of promoting from within, usually people who have no business being in there promoted position. I recently was hired by another tech firm in the Boston area, I'm happily leaving the wreckage that is PTC and sincerely hope they make changes soon for the sake of my colleagues I'm leaving behind.

Pros

The paychecks don't bounce (yet)

Cons

We have heard of many companies giving bonuses after the recent corporate tax cuts. PTC? PTC is laying more people off. In fact the recent round of layoffs is one of the biggest they have had. Why the layoffs?
