Sometimes overtime is mandatory and others times it is almost expected even when not stated to be mandatory. Pay is low and they will drag out raises for months, and they are small when you get them (~ $0.50 per hour). Upper management says they appreciate the employees but we got a $1 bonus for employee appreciation day which is frankly insulting. Also I was told not to discuss my pay with anyone which is a red flag.

Um, just about everything else. Whatever you can think of, there's likely a horrifying anecdote to illustrate how terribly managed this lab is. On the whole, they grind the worthwhile workers into the ground because of the high bar of expectations they've set for themselves. The employees that skate by or are completely incompetent (because that's the kind of people this lab attracts - "Do they have a pulse? They're hired!") are not held to any standard because that would involve effort on the part of management, which is comprised almost entirely of old white men that are so delusional that they are totally blind to how toxic the environment is.
