Pros

Use some of your knowledge gained through education. Gain very little new knowledge. Pays the bills (only enough to afford a shack to live in). Some of your coworkers are decent.

Cons

Glorified minimum wage type job. Employees are paid and treated poorly. There is absolutely no upward movement unless someone literally dies or some other miracle. Now matter how hard you work or what your performance is, it absolutely doesn't matter. If you are good at brown-nosing then you may fit in...Work is extremely repetitive and the so called management will kick you when your down at any chance they get.

Pros

There's a lot of great people who work very hard. . . these people have no other choice and are enslaved in the HELL of Pace.

Cons

You are forced to use vacation time. Management forces good people to make unethical decisions regarding data by threatening your job. Online training is a waste of time and staff is pushed to do it on their own time. Everything is a number, including employees. 4 cent raises every other year if you are lucky. Micromanaged all the time and screamed at if something goes wrong and samples need to be reanalyzed. As a manager, if you tell them you will not report the data until the samples are rerun you are berated and get "a talking to" by the GM and QAO. Hopefully NELAC/DOH wisens up to their evil ways, if they look at the data I approved they will find a lot of red ink explaining everything.

Pros

Break glass in case of emergency type of employer. Because of the incomptence of management, and having no other options, relatively fresh graduates can often get experience doing things it would take years to get other places. But beware the reputation in the industry is so poor it can be difficult to convince other companies to hire you based off of it.

Cons

Management plays mind games. There's a clear disregard for you as a person. Any efforts to improve the situation are met with resistance and you are told your the problem. If you ask for a raise to try to align with the lower range of the market, all of the sudden you have an attitude problem and will get told you need to be a cheerleader for management.
