Pros

I enjoy talking to most of my coworkers. There are a lot of experienced people on site to learn from, which is very good for your first professional job. There are enough breakfasts and snacks to break up the monotony.

Cons

Work is very repetitive and you are prone to zoning out after a while. My supervisor micromanages my department to the point that I dread him coming in to check up on things in the afternoon. Essential positions go for months without being filled at the cost of current employee morale. Project managers will send any amount of work through the lab without consideration of current sample load. Managers try to save costs in any way including not purchasing necessary supplies.

Pros

Co-workers are really nice. Opportunity to moved around in different Department. Good for learn in a Entry level Position, No room to grow after that, very difficult.

Cons

The Administration is completely disorganized. Extremely Poor management toward employees. People without education get to same position and payment as the people with education. Some supervisor have favoritism with some employees. Medical Plan is not worthy for what you pay.

Pros

The Co-Workers that I get to interact with every single day, is one of the highlights at Pace Analytical. Inspires a sense of family and camaraderie between the departments (i.e. Sample Receiving, Courier and Field Techs, and Lab Personnel) and makes the work day enjoyable.

Cons

There a several Cons to working in the Environmental Industry. The first one that comes to mind is a very competitive marketplace which in turn leads to high stress work environment. Second, the pay is not that great especially for entry level positions. Pace seems to place an emphasis on low-balling its employees regardless of technical skills, education level, and previous work experience. Furthermore, an average hourly rate of 14-18 dollars an hour is not enough for the current marketplace of a person that has a Technical Degree (i.e. Bachelors of Science) Thirdly, with the transformation of becoming Pace, there has been a shift from good quality data to a larger emphasis on getting as much data as possible. New Management has come in and is trying to implement an over emphasis on producing results for the sake of a number rather than ensuring the quality of the test results. This consequently has resulted in a High-Turnover environment and a High-Stress environment with very low employee satisfaction and moral has significantly declined with this new management.
