Pros

My manager understands the value of a life-work balance and does what he can to allow comp time.

Cons

Where to begin. In August PacifiCorp, under the leadership of Stefan Bird, decided the best thing to do was to outsource a good portion of IT, to an India based company named Cognizant. This was a mistake in so many ways. Many IT departments are now severely understaffed, projects are failing to meet deadlines, the communication barrier is damn near impossible, and, as typical for a call center, there is no "passion" for the work. The outsourcing company has shown time and time again, "Eh, I'll get to it when I get to it". There is a reason why Stefan Bird's approval is 3% on Glassdoor. He is running the company into the ground, cutting every corner he can. His "vision" is all about the mighty dollar, and while I understand that the company is here to make money, there is an old saying about cutting off your nose to spite your face... It's not readily apparent to the customers yet, but give it three more months and it will be. Upper management, VP and above only care about their week to week paychecks and their year end bonus. They have no time for anyone below Director, and there is no such thing as an "Open Door Policy". Trying to explain why the Outsourcing is not working, falls on deaf ears. It's Stefan's way, or the highway. Ironically, many of the people let go during the outsourcing have been hired back, and at 125-150% of their original base pay, as contractors. Some have filed suit with the Oregon Department of Labor and have gotten free college training out of it. The people who stayed are the ones who "got the shaft".

Cons

This company has got to be the worst utility in the US on top of the complete lack of respect for its employees local management and upper mangement enjoy playing games and messing with people's lives they show no remorse or even care when they screw up they can't admit to anything they just like to put it off on the people who actually work for a living they preach safety but only if it don't cost to much the qualifications for becomeing a manager for this place are a joke I don't believe that any manager here actually has good experience working with people they promote meter readers and clerks to these positions that don't have any people skills and are way to immature to be in the positions they are in The Grantspass yard imparticular upper management is very vindictive and spiteful there way of manageing is by fear and the threat of discipline not by example these guys are the reason why unions were started to begin with there management tactics date back to the 40s and 50s alls they want to do is get there maximum returned allowed and the will get it by any means necessary they had a lay off for the first time in 30 yrs just so they could get there return they want us to break down working conditions to save money even if it is in violation of there safety rules they won't come out and say it publicly they have also had historical rate increases but none of the money goes to improve our system just deepen the pokets of the share holders
