Pros

There are always openings (both for management and regular employees) due to the huge turnover. Its a very easy job to get. Managers eat for free, and employees get a discount.

Cons

Ive been in food service management for many years, and being a Panera GM was the WORST experience I ever had. As a former General Manager, I speak from my position and from what I observed. Employees are treated like equipment. One of the first things a GM is told, is to get 3 (bad) "write-ups" on EVERYONE (in case you want to fire them). You are supposed to drill into their minds that "Its all about the bread" , and have the employees get in a group and chant "Bread is our passion, soul and expertise!" Quite embarrassing for all. If the day's business is slow, you have to send people home before they finish their shift (with no regard to the fact that these people need to make money). As a manager, expect to work 70++ hours a week, and spend more time making sandwiches and clearing the dining room, than running your "restaurant". Forget the bonus, the system is structured to make it impossible. As an employee, expect very little gratitude. You'll be expected to learn ALL positions, make minimum wage, adjust YOUR schedule to fit theirs, get written up, and pretend you're have fun. One of the main reasons I resigned, was how I was expected to (mis) treat the employees. Its nothing more than a fast food place, with a few decorations.

Pros

Serving people and communication with them was the best experience working there.

Cons

Manager and management system was very abusive. She was trying the save pennies by not giving our wage appropriately and postponed increases increases as much she could especially of workers who had language barrier or were shy. Also she had no commitment to customers health by breaking health rules frequently

Pros

Free baked goods at the end of the night, if you're closing. No previous experience needed. They paid me slightly above state minimum wage when I worked there. No *specific* uniform, other than a hat, although there are rules: you have to wear a solid polo shirt and non-jeans pants/capris. I got some coffee experience here which led to my next job as a barista. Decent discount on food there - I think 40% or 50%.

Cons

WAY longer hours than I had been led to believe at interview. There's a very high employee turnover rate - can't say I'm surprised. Pay is dismal for the amount of work done. Physically exhausting. Scheduling was different from week to week and asking for time off was like pulling teeth - even though at the interview they told me they wanted my school activities to come first, I was given a hard time and fired shortly after taking 2 weeks off for the performances of a school play I was heavily involved in (and had been for months). I came back post-firing to collect my last paycheck, and one of the managers asked where I had gone -- not even the management communicated amongst themselves! He hadn't known I had been fired and seemed pretty annoyed that I had been.
