Pros

Great co-workers and work life balance overall.

Cons

- 3 days in the office while most leadership is remote and in different states - Office not in the CBD - Very limited career progression - High manager turnover with many managers leaving within 12 months

Pros

There used to be many, but I no longer have anything even slightly positive to say

Cons

- Boys club, you have to be one of the CEO's favourites in order to find any success - Zero agency in any role as CEO micromanages absolutely everything - No job security as making roles redundant has become a hobby for CEO - CEO spruiking generative AI at every opportunity, clearly encouraging employees to train a model that can replace them - Uses questionably legal (to put it mildly) tactics to force out employees that are undesireable to CEO - Employees are required to be on call for issues with the cloud product which is always breaking - No pay transparency, which is especially bad with the gender pay gap that exists - Consistent failure to meet promises to improve things for employees, such as stock sharing - 3 days/week mandated in office for non-managers, preventing the agency of teams to find what works best for them - CEO keeps hiring his friends to fill senior roles, preventing opportunities for existing employees (This is a non-exhaustive list)

Pros

PaperCut has a number of benefits including flexible hours, share the success program, friendly and passionate people (most anyway), and a great product

Cons

Very poor internal communication, particularly recently, and expectations are often unclear. This has caused a lot of unnecessary stress on many people. Change is inevitable, but change management makes or breaks a company. Expectations on some are too high and others too low.

Thank you for the feedback. Sometimes we can think we are communicating right but obviously we still have loads of room for improvement. Being a young company, we will take these comments to heart and put more focus on change management, especially communication. Please reach out to me or anybody else who you trust and share your ideas to help us improve. We have begun to discuss moving to self-forming teams and we want to empower everyone to bring their capabilities into PaperCut. At the same time, as we are implementing this we have to consider people’s career aspirations and the impact these changes might have on their experience at PaperCut. So please speak to me, the LT, P&C or the OR, we would love your input.
