Pros

Having MTV on your resume helps, no doubt. The pay is good. There are cool perks like VMA's, etc, if you are into that.

Cons

Fake, cut-throat environment. Colleagues are generally not the brightest and are wayyyy to into working for MTV. Just a thankless, soulless place to work.

For a corporate job, you could do a lot worse...

Pros

Large enough to offer a variety of opportunities (if you know people and can take advantage of them), as well as a really good benefits package - I don't think I know anyone else my age with a pension. As others have mentioned, it's a fairly lax environment with a "fun" corporate culture.

Cons

Promotions seem arbitrary and many departments never seem to promote anyone. Yet we are always receiving email notices about promotions in the more "glamorous" departments - production, development, ad sales, marketing, PR.
