Pros

The brands owned are really great (MTV, Paramount etc.) and interesting and there is always something going on that means the business is in the public eye. It is a really tough market environment for the traditional media firms so there is a need for some serious innovative thinking.

Cons

Lack of progression across brands and into new parts of the business is a problem, despite huge number of employees and a global reach it can be difficult to move horizontally. There is an internal mobility programme but uptake depends largley on the appetite of individual managers to support their staff in taking new roles in the business. Viacom has an overly hierachical culture. It is more tenurocracy than meritocracy.

Pros

We have a chance to go to fun events, screening, people are very nice and friendly.

Cons

Lack in development plan for people in junior roles. You can have the feeling of being stuck because you can't progress within your role or team.
