Pros

PAREXEL has been very fair in my career development and helping me to achieve my career goals. My direct manager is very fair and work life balance oriented. I feel part of the reason I have been successful is my take initiative attitude. I have seen others fail who might very well be a great employee but they get left behind in the "sink or swim" environment.

Cons

Upper management is so disconnected from the actual work that their decisions and policies are not always effective or wise. Some of the tools provided are too complex with little or no training. It is expected that you will "figure it out on your own" but at the same time are reprimanded for figuring it out wrong. Upper management seems to have a "do as I say attitude" with complete disregard for employee comments/suggestions. It can be very frustrating.

Pros

Good to get "regulated company" credentials

Cons

Promotions and career success are based on getting highly ranked political allies. Quality of work means nothing. If you are not favored you will be overlooked, verbally abused, and used as a convenient excuse when things go wrong

Pros

Projects are interesting Dealing with people in over 54 countries is very interesting Company is involved in cutting edge clinical research Pay is around industry average A lot of room for horizontal movement and promotions

Cons

Management expectations of hard working employees is too high. Low performers are allowed to stay low at the expense of the good workers Workload is intense and does not allow for work-life balance. Burn-out is frequent. Working 60 hours a week is not uncommon Some senior managers are borderline abusive in their language towards their employees
