I have been working at Pariveda for ten months, and one of the things that I’ve been most impressed by is the each person’s dedication to the achieving the highest level of excellence possible. I have never worked with so many people whose capabilities are all in the highest percentile. They exemplify strong professional characteristics ranging from work ethic, to technical knowledge, to charismatic personalities, to perceptive understanding of complex scenarios, to receiving criticism and providing feedback, to networking and relationship building. I am surrounded by people who do not know how to settle for mediocrity, they will never stop striving to work harder and become better. It is exhilirating and contaigous to witness and be a part of.
Since joining, I have expanded my technical skillset vastly. I have become proficient with AWS services, mainly with CloudFormation and EC2, and supplementally with CloudFront, CloudWatch, Lambda, and KMS/Systems Manager. I have focused on deployments to Linux EC2 instances, and have been given great opportunity to practice deploying production application servers. Additionally, I spend huge amounts of time working on a CI/CD system, via the Jenkins platform, which has given me strong understanding of the Jenkins platform, as well as scripting in bash. My role as a DevOps has contributed immeasurably to my confidence and ability to strengthen the infrastructure and deployment landscape for any business operating in the cloud.
My favorite aspect of working at Pariveda is being the recipient of the firm’s robust methodology for growing employees to their fullest potential. At the heart of Pariveda’s system for growth and personal development, is an expectations framework. It is a construct which provides every rank and cohort with clear, transparent and measurable goals and responsibilities. The expectations framework is detailed and complex, and it is the basis for each person’s assigned roles and tasks throughout their tenure. I have eagerly embraced the framework and, along with help from my mentor, I am constantly searching for new opportunities to grow in the areas which the framework identifies. To clarify, Pariveda does not hand a person this framework and say “here is what we expect of you, please work to achieve these goals”. Instead, every member of the firm, from vice president to manager, is focused on playing his or her part in helping others to achieve the goals illustrated in the framework. I have received countless hours of advice, perspective, and suggestions, from those who work closest with me, and they do not expect anything in return. This is what I love the most, that everyone I work with is fully committed to helping me progress as a developer and architect, as a communicator and advisor, and as a future contributor to the culture of Pariveda.
