My higher level manager was incompetent. Very well versed in cheesy photo ops. Poor communication and no real drive for change management or accountability at the store level. Talks a good game, no meat. Would have to run around stores and prepare for "surprise" inspections by the big boss. But why? Because as long as store managers were selling candy bars and chicken tenders, details causing bigger problems swept under the rug. Some store employees work alone all night, unsafe! When you have a revolving door of middle and upper level managers perhaps the upper level manager is the problem? Lies, and lack or trust for those this person hires. Plays the blame game to divert attention from the upper level management failures, but get that cheesy photo op! Fails to collaborate, plan, discuss, problem solve. Other high level managers rule by fear, intimidation, bullying. Store higher level managers are not held accountable, but dump unreasonable workloads on the poor store manager, IF they are even held accountable. This infrastructure will eventually crumble or be sold off. Dont be impressed with the title they hire you in with. Ask how many before you were there prior. Its a leadership issue.
