Pros

It is nice working for a governmental agency - the benefits are great and there is opportunity for growth within the County, plus you are part of the State of Florida retirement system. If I had stayed I could be retired with additional income coming in besides social security.

Cons

With any government agency, there are always the challenges dealing with the Board of County Commissioners and other the elected officials. The government does not move quickly as a private company/

Pros

Great work environment, co-workers are wonderful people, good medical benefits (if you are single).

Cons

The pay is extremely bad. Upper management is completely out of touch with reality. Upper management actually told us in a meeting that we work for the County because of civil duty and life isn't fair. If that is the case how come you make $170,000 and get a car and house allowance.
