Great Company All Around

Pros

Pax8 offers a rare balance between a tight community that keeps employees at the forefront of mind, while still working towards becoming a publicly traded company. Leadership has a consistant voice, a solid direction and are willing to take critism along the way. Some of my other favorite aspects are: - Great management and management training - Tons of perks and plenty of outings - Lots of room to grow or switch interests - Trust from co-workers that you'll perform in your role - Tons of self-improvement opportunities and reimbursements

Cons

Transitioning from a true "start-up" to more of a corporate structure isn't straightforward and can feel a bit cumbersome at times. Where teams have built their own processes in the past to "quickly push forward", are now starting to run into slow down, which causes a lot of additional planning and process buy-in. This is more of an internal mindset shift, but still something that I have noticed that could be improved on.

Great company but losing its focus

Pros

Great work life balance. This company has some of the brightest and most passionate people I have ever met. Very laid back, warm, fun, and casual environment. Good product and a stable company that hasn’t had layoffs in the current tech bloodbath (yet). Cares about employee development and growth.

Cons

It’s deeply concerning that so many teams are under resourced and we keep getting told to tighten our belts during all hands because we aren’t yet profitable and the economy is bad, all the while we’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in salaries to bring people on for a “DEI team” that consists of people who hold bigoted and radical ideas (based on their LinkedIn activity feeds), who will add no other value than to check an ESG box and make a few investors happy in the lead up to our IPO. All the while the people keeping the lights on will remain underfunded.

That said, it seems you have concerns about where we might be headed with our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging work. Pax8 today enjoys a very healthy culture, and our aim is to keep it that way. As any company looks to move from start-up to maturity, they must put additional focus on intentional actions to ensure that the culture scales along with the growth of the company. I suspect from your comments that you may have seen other companies struggle to find the right balance with ensuring inclusivity.
