      Pros

      PayPal is filled with very energetic people who make good company. There are highly qualified people who seem to be eager to make a difference. There is abundant work for people who actually want to work. Lately, you can see most of the engineering jobs moving offshore or to other US locations. It is a great place to work for anyone who wants or who is extremely good navigating highly political environment.

      Cons

      Unfair practices for promotion determination, kiss-ass work ethics, lip service to work-life balance.

      Pros

      Salary is higher than average and it is a well-recognized (if not well-loved) name.

      Cons

      Technological dead-end. Their entire code base is so convoluted that it is nearly unmanageable. This leads to a complete paralysis for development. In addition, their release methodology is completely a mess as it relies on a "big-bang" release with all components being updated at the same time. This is done supposedly as "risk management", but in reality it is simply because the various components are so tightly bound to each other that they must be updated in lock-step.
