Pay increases as you complete "levels" of your position, but then you quickly hit a wall. While local branch management may be great, senior management at HQ are totally not in tune with real issues of employees. Either that or they simply ignore them. Paychex is a MACHINE. In the end, all they care about are numbers, numbers, numbers. Since HQ limits the pay increase an employee might receive, good productive employees are usually "rewarded" with a small annual increase in pay, but a large increase of extra work to make up for under-performing employees. The limit HQ places on annual increases usually results in star employees receiving just an additional 1% increase more than the employees they are picking up the slack for. Career advancement outside of your local branch is hard. Usually depends on who you know. Company doesn't look within their own organization for home-grown talent as much as it should.

Management stresses unrealistic quotas. Most people under perform but the commissions are still great regardless. Not for the weak of heart.
