Pros

The starting pay is okay and benefits are great. The schedule is nice and consistent which helps with planning events.

Cons

The work load for a payroll specialist is overwhelming and hard to do. Once you have a full set of clients you will have over 400 to handle. If you have what is called a "semi-day" you will have over 100 calls/emails to make and that many payrolls to run. That means you are glued to your desk for 8 hours and if you are lucky you will take a lunch but it won't be for the hour you are given. It will be for only 30 minutes as they tell you can't have the full hour but they will buy food for you so you can continue to work while eating. They preach their culture, but they don't listen to you when you come to them with ideas and solutions. The management team does not care about your work load, or what is going on with you as long as your clients are taking care of. Workload is just insane and will not get any easier.

Pros

Only if you’re trying to get into sales and are desperate. I’m only still typing because glass door states I need 20 word minimum. Ask a current employee to look in the eyes and be honest if you shout work at Paychex. If you potential client cancel any further appointments with your the rep.

Cons

The executive leadership is so bad and ignorant. If you work here you will ask yourself how in the world is the person in a leadership role let alone being in charge of other leaders.

Pros

After 15+ years, pay was good, benefits good

Cons

No one really left at our branch, just 2 specialists left at office. Everyone else is mostly out of Rochester. Training is not what it used to be. Heard that because training was expensive and with high turnover the original training was ended. It is a rush in with minimal training and put on the phone. They know very little and make many mistakes. For those few of us left that had training, and are dedicated, you are not appreciated. There is so much work with not enough time I and others start working off the clock 1/2 early. God forbid you are not done by 5, all that overtime has to be used up adding to your lunch time. Really makes sense!!
