Pros

$1 Health Insurance That's it folks! Can't find anything else even with a microscope

Cons

Umm... Where should I begin? - Fake positive reviews on Glassdoor to coverup negative ones and not show in Most Popular filter. - Horse race to chase points on a monthly basis and induced blind trust on process and management from Day 1. - Appraisal/evaluation process with hidden micromanagement at every level. This needs a bit explanation. Paycom has this "points" system for developers which they claim as revolutionary and fair, but the catch is Developers can only work and wait for result. You cannot present or convince anyone about the hard work involved. It is all in the hands of higher management. They will see, verify and award you with appropriate points. Even though you struggled so hard to get through the work and finish it, the person awarding you might've other opinion. Whatever may be the way they are awarding these points; they have least concern/thought that they are dealing with humans and every human learns and works at their own pace. - Speechless on vacation hours. I do not even have words to describe how pathetic this is because Developers need to maintain their 3-month points average. So, if you plan a vacation for a month, you are responsible for your lost month points. Work before or after to get the average needed. Hypocrisy lies in Glassdoor comments as most of the responses have recommendation to utilize vacation hours. - Performance improvement notice if you do not meet monthly minimum points on a 3-month streak. - No value for your previous experience just because the technology is irrelevant, and you will eat the bait of grandiosity, benefits and Glassdoor fake positive reviews. Of course, who is using 1980’s technology now? Do not hire irrelevant experience candidates with generic job descriptions and underpaid salaries for your profits. - Everything is in-house. Paycom doesn't use tools and cutting-edge technologies to save $$ and show a good balance sheet but EOD you will learn nothing out of their in-house development. - No Internal Transfers until management does so. There is nothing you wish/ you need/ whatever "you". There is no you! - You will see a vacation recommended (which will be stressful points chase)/ we will let the management know your concern (but never implement a solution)/ you should have talked to your manager (but you will be on the firing line) response under this review.

Across our organization, we are KPI, service and leadership driven. There are many avenues for our employees to share feedback and follow best practices by offering employees several avenues to tell their Paycom story on sites like Glassdoor, but we do not require anyone to leave a review nor are any of these “fake reviews.” Additionally, we actively encourage all employees to utilize their time off and other available benefits. Time off is never held against our developers nor does taking time off impact performance metrics or their points. We would like to discuss more regarding your experience and hope you feel comfortable reaching out to our team at hrmgmt@paycomonline.com.

Pros

Decent base pay for sales roles. Potential to make significant money if you're in the small percentage of top/lucky performers. Training is actually good training if you can make it through.

Cons

Total fear based leadership. You'll hear constant jokes about getting fired for this or that, because most everyone is legitimately concerned they'll be fired at any point. The job itself is a pretty miserable role. Expect to be constantly hounded about daily metrics. To start you're expected to maintain all metrics that you would be as a senior rep, while also completing 25 hours + a week of training class. Expect 60 hour weeks minimum for the first few months. The comments about you can make a lot of money but you'll never have time to spend it are 100% true. During training you will see at least a handful of your class fired before even becoming fully trained for the job. If you're looking for good sales training for your career you will get it, but if you're looking for a job you'll enjoy or a company you'll spend some years at, look elsewhere. If you're looking to grind non-stop, working nights and weekends, don't care about work/life balance or you're own mental stability and happiness over making good money then I would suggest considering the role.

We’re saddened to read of your experience. Our sales roles are very competitive and we have high standards, but those excelling in these roles have proven to create a lot of value for themselves and their families. We understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance and encourage all members of our team to create the balance that best serves their unique needs. We will share your remarks with the leadership team and encourage you to share your constructive feedback with your supervisor or your HR business partner on positive changes you feel would be valuable.

Pros

Pay potential (but really not worth the toxic environment)

Cons

When I was approached by the recruiter, while excelling at another company in sales, she made Paycom sound like a dream in terms of flexibility, bring dog into the office, huge payout in your first year, 95% retention rate of reps, immediately start seeing sales come in, etc... Virtually none of it was true. No dogs at work, 50% retention rate or less for new reps, won't see a sale possibly all year, etc. Without literally any training you are expected to be on the phones in the first few weeks cold-calling CEOs without the ability to answer questions or fight objections, the actual training is entirely virtual and very awkward as you are constantly put on the spot- definitely not a "safe" learning environment. It is absolutely expected that you work 10-12 hour days, without lunch breaks from the very beginning. My training literally started at 11AM and went for four hours. The "homework" and calls required are obscene as you are trying to learn a new product. The actual training was clunky and confusing, as it was all virtual and felt like the trainer was trying to sell us on her lavish lifestyle the entire time by dropping hints about the money she makes and providing very little hard skills for the job. My interactions with my actual manager were unsympathetic and cold - they are obviously 100% money driven and not concerned with the human. Its also worth noting that the benefits are not great. I was confused as to why employees brag about it because maternity leave, days off, medical, absolutley all offerings are the worst I've had and my interactions with HR were terrible.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us, and we're sorry your time at Paycom was not more positive. We thrive in a competitive industry, and we understand the level of commitment and work ethic required to be successful in our sales roles may not be the best fit for some. During the recruiting process, our team works diligently to communicate the expectations and high standards associated with our competitive sales positions. Through our nationally recognized sales training programs, our team is equipped with the tools necessary to become a champion of our sales process and a strategic partner for our clients. If your experience did not match these expectations, we hope you were able to share these issues with your HR Business Partner before departing. Regardless, we will be sure to share this feedback with our leadership team. Thank you for your contributions while on the Paycom team. We wish you great success in your future endeavors!
