Pros

This is probably one of the better companies I will ever work for. Paylocity offers their employee's a myriad of benefits (insurance plans, 401k, stock options, etc...) and insists upon a healthy work-life balance. Also, with the company growing as fast as it is, the opportunities for upward mobility are only increasing. The position for NSS rep is one that is a perfect kick start to serious career path. I took this job right out of college and gained valuable experience in terms of what corporate (and sales) life entails. Although the actual job is quite singular (dials dials dials) management is increasingly exposing NSS reps to further training to guarantee that their employees are well versed in not only what Paylocity offers, but also in how to properly sell and approach a potential client (or sale). Also, if you happen to struggle with quota, management is supportive and works with you to help you be successful. (They also all have an open door policy and are consistently available.) After only a 4-5 months on the job, because of what the position entails and the reputation of the company, I was approached by a handful of companies and consequently, have moved on from Paylocity. I would highly recommend this position to recent graduates, seeing how the NSS position gives you opportunities, both in and outside Paylocity, that few other companies can. Lastly, I have to say that the people you work with are awesome and hilarious. On the worst of days I was still smiling because of who I was surrounded by.

Cons

It's cold calling. The job is monotonous and can be highly frustrating at times.

Pros

Co-workers are great, friendly and casual environment. For the most part the company allows it's employees to focus on doing their job without micro-managing. Benefits and pay are good. Flexible remote atmosphere for many of the positions. Software is industry leading - it's nice to work for the best.

Cons

Concerns over change in atmosphere no that they are public.

Pros

Good health care benefits. Health insurance was available the next month after I started. Didn't have to wait long.

Cons

6 week customer service training seemed like it would cover it all, however when we got to the floor, it was as though we had no training. Team lead was unaccommodating, played favorites. You had to make an appointment with the team lead to get help. They encouraged the use of IM chat to ask other coworkers for help. Then what's the use of the team lead? Very frustrating when you have a customer on the line and need an answer. The job was supposed to be customer service for a payroll company. In reality, it was more accounting based than anything else. Customers would call with questions that were more suited for their tax lawyers or accountants. But when you are new, you don't know that these are questions that you cannot answer. Very stressful environment. I would leave exhausted every day. The manager was always in meetings, never around. It was over one month before I had my first sit down meeting with my manager. She told me I was doing a great job! How would she even know when she was never around. The standard spiel was that "it gets better around the 6 month mark, and then it is almost like magic, you know so much." I was not about to stick around to find out. I got out after 4 months, that is only 2 months on the floor, the rest was in training. The VP of the department wanted everything his way. Did not listen to employee input for possibly bettering the culture and work environment. Lots of unhappy employees who can't afford to leave because they can't find other jobs. I was so happy to quit. I would not recommend this to any customer service professional. It is NOT customer service.

Paylocity Response
12y
I am posting this on behalf of our Client Services management team: At Paylocity, we truly value our employees and their feedback, and work to continually improve our employee experiences. It is sad to see employees have such negative conclusions after only being with our company for 4 months. We have been among business leaders as one of the best places to work in Illinois for the past 8 years and it isn't a fit for every person. The work we do is important and can be challenging at times and this environment isn't for all. We wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors, and will continue to strive to make Paylocity one of the Best Places to Work.
