Pros

There are still pockets of great talent and great culture, but you have to look hard to find them, and they are dwindling fast.

Cons

Basically, any review here from mid-2021 or before no longer applies, just look at all of the recent reviews about losing so many good people. Over the past 6-12 months, the vast majority of senior tech leadership has either quit or been asked to. In their place has been inserted top-down dictatorial leaders that want to take all of the technology decisions away from the engineers and make them themselves. What you end up with is Directors making decisions about what database technologies to use, what API contracts will look like, what languages/frameworks must be used, etc.. while simultaneously not having any vision for where to take the product in the future nor any understanding of how our company operated before they joined. I used to really love the tight-knit, fast-paced, teamwork mentality that made Paylocity what it was, but that is now almost completely gone. Where we once had "bottom-up" decision making we now have power-hungry leadership poaching talent either from former companies they have worked (forming factions) or from other internal teams which ends up causing resentment and ultimately those people (the top talent) finding jobs elsewhere. It's sad to see a company where I'd hoped I'd end my career deteriorate SO fast. Oh, and apparently Waterfall is back? This is likely why we have been told to lower our hiring standards in interviews. Also, there was once a focus on remote culture and getting the best tools to make us successful while remote. Now Zoom is being taken away and I'm sure Slack is next. Use your imagination as to what might be coming next.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Even though we are a rapidly growing company, we always strive to ensure that all our employees are heard and can assure that your feelings are valid. We have continued to hire top talent through the COVID-19 pandemic and each application is carefully reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team. As we grow, we continue to find avenues to ensure that employees can interact with our Executive Leadership team such as through the bi-weekly live Q&A sessions. Transparency is top of mind, and we continue to listen to employee feedback and strive to make Paylocity a great place to work where all employees can be themselves. Regarding the Zoom to Microsoft Teams transition, please stay tuned to PCTY News where we have provided insight regarding why we are transitioning. We have several trainings and resources available for you to explore. Additionally, we encourage you to reach out to your HR Business Partner for additional support at any time.

Pros

I've been with Paylocity for several years now, and I must admit that I'm disappointed by the recent changes that have taken place within the company. It's hard to find much that are pros now. While it was once a place that prided itself on its strong emphasis on employee and customer experience, a noticeable shift has occurred ever since the arrival of the new Senior Vice President in Operations.

Cons

The vibrant atmosphere and sense of camaraderie have been replaced with an atmosphere of uncertainty and dissatisfaction. The feeling of being part of a united team has been compromised, and morale seems to be at an all-time low. Our inability to support customers because of bad product, tools and appropriate staffing have made it almost impossible to survive here. There is no more collaboration, everything is from a top-down approach. Ideation or feedback is almost non-existent. The new leader has been making swift changes in long withstanding policies in the organization, like remote work, promotions and customer experience. Making it more like ADP rather than the innovative SASS we once were. They are disconnected from our employee and customer experience. They roll out changes without input from employees. Leadership expects quick resolution on things rather than the right resolution. This causes a lot of rework for the front line employee. It seems that they are more concerned about their own reputation rather than doing what is right for our customers and employees. Employees are now working longer hours, off the clock because they are scared that they will get in trouble for OT and having a customer complaint. It's impossible to keep up with the expectations that leaders put all employees. One of the most disappointing aspects was this August merit cycle. Employees who are meeting the expectation of their job were not awarded their full bonus despite announcing to investors record 38% revenue growth. Those same employees only received a 2-3% increase in their base salary. It's frustrating to witness that even though Paylocity has achieved record profitability, the executives are primarily concerned with margins. The relentless pursuit of higher profits has taken precedence over the welfare of both employees and customers. This short-term focus on financial gains might have severe long-term consequences for the company's reputation and overall success.

Pros

Class A Corporate America company! +Great Swag - free stuff all the time, they must really care! (Hint: it's just free marketing for the company, and you get taxed on it) +Restricted Stock for over 50% of the company (Hint: it's to cover up the fact that they aren't paying fair market value base pay) +Very inclusivity forward (almost to the point of bullyish) +Many, many departments, which means there's potential to go nearly anywhere your career might want to grow (after 12 successful months in your current position)

Cons

Simply put, the company and the culture is not what it used to be. That can't be a shock. No start up turned corporate giant ever will be. What's sad is the company now values money and profit over their employees. If you've followed any companies who have chased greed, the writing is on the wall for Paylocity. Don't take my word for it. Do your due diligence; read reviews and pay attention to the tenure. "No cons so far" are people with less than a year under their belt. Still in their honeymoon phase and have barely been out of training to be in their respective roles long enough to know the day-to-day life. All of the tenure at the company is leaving like a mass exodus because employees are no longer treated with respect or appreciated.
