Pros

Great remote work culture and talented people to work with.

Cons

I have been with Paylocity now for over five years, what differentiated them in the past is that they offered full remote work, competitive compensation, and opportunities to work on modernization efforts in a fast-growing company. Paylocity has reported success quarter after quarter for years now, unfortunately this success has not been shared with the employees that made that success possible. Over my tenure here all my merit increases have been around or less than 3%, despite significant contributions and achievements. During Covid salary increases, 401k matches were frozen during that time of uncertainty into 2021, meanwhile Steve our CEO enjoyed a 16% base salary increase, and more than doubled his overall compensation from 2019-2021 from 7 million to over 14 million according to salary dot com. This gross disparity has not ever been addressed, instead all we hear about in management meetings is how much we are appreciated for carrying the company to success though Covid which rings very hollow given these facts. Additionally, the company has doubled down on trying to get more out of rank-and-file employees through campaigns like “Amp-it-up” without any “Amp-it-up” on compensation front. Management refuses to engage on employee concerns over competitive salary and seems unwilling to even acknowledge growing inflation disparities that are hurting so many. To add insult to injury they came out with a new career framework full of subjective metrics, with different titles that pretty much feel like a demotion in the way they chose to map old roles to new ones. I can only imagine the reason is to squeeze more out of already exhausted employees by forcing them to work harder and in their spare time for title promotion to get back to an equivalent title that they were before.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, 46% of the Paylocity workforce was fully remote and the majority of our organization is still fully remote, aside from select departments. We have continued to be flexible and listen to our employees regarding their thoughts on return to office. In regard to our benefit offerings, we strive to offer competitive benefits and continue to source employee feedback and revisit our benefit partnerships to ensure that we are meeting our employees needs. If you have any benefit suggestions, please feel free to reach out to the team directly via the Ask HR Q&A group in Community or via Zendesk, we’d love to hear from you! During our bi-weekly Executive Q&A sessions, the leadership team frequently provides updates regarding the state of the business. We would not be where we are today without the dedication and hard work from our employees. Additional information will be shared as we are in the midst of Annual Review season. We strongly encourage you to reach out to your manager or HR Business Partner to discuss any concerns further so that we may best assist you. If you are a P&T employee, you may also express your thoughts within the P&T monthly employee engagement survey.

Pros

The environment is really young. The company outings are also really fun.

Cons

When I first started at PCTY I was so excited. They paint it up to be a great place! However the environment is toxic and will leave you drained at the end of the day. There is a huge lack of diversity in NSS. The recruiters also lie about everything from commission to turnover. There is no one making 80k in NSS. That was one person and they are considered a legend. It's closer to 40-50k on average. The commission is absolutely ridiculous. $20 an appointment is not great especially after taxes. They also lied in the interview and training about their turnover rate. This is glorified telemarketing that they try to market as "entry level inside sales". There are people quitting almost every week and you will see new people in for interviews almost every day. The environment is very much like high school. Lots of bullying, cliques, sexual harassment and gossiping going on. Also unless you are a fan of partying/drinking/doing drugs you may feel pretty isolated. In NSS almost anything goes. That also includes racist remarks that you are expected to "suck up" or play along with. One guy quit because his team kept making anti-Semitic comments. You may also hear people dropping the "N" word because it's in the explicit music they play throughout the office. Most of these Glassdoor reviews are fake. They encourage employees to leave positive reviews and some managers write them themselves. Don't believe the hype. If you have a bachelors I would encourage you to seek employement elsewhere seeing as even customer service centers pay more than Paylocity does

Pros

There are still good people. Your manager may be as lost as you as they don’t know what they are doing, but at least they MIGHT be nice (50/50).

Cons

The last six months to a year have been really horrible. I have not been in Paylocity very long, but I have watched many people transition in and out of client services. The upper leadership meaning directors, senior directors, VPs, etc. are completely out of touch. This has turned into a complete call center rather then a client relationship driven place. We fix issues as they come up, not when they could have been prevented, and every executive wants it fixed immediately and wonders why we messed it up(Hint it’s cuz everyone good has quit and everyone left is annoyed or new). The culture and moral is worse then low, and I know this is across sites from friends in other places. Leadership is so lost on how we actually do our jobs that they change what we do every day.Leadership implemented client retention reporting systems quickly, but they are so far from reality about the horrible workforce they have. Pay is far below market and the industry. Raises this year were a slap in the face 3%. But oh wait we have almost 40% revenue growth. So instead of hiring better people and more people, they are removing WFH for us leads, paying awful, and hiring anybody and everybody who applies. Recruiters may talk like they vet, but the reality is you have low IQ Account Managers messing up your clients businesses. It’s really a disaster waiting to happen and many small ones happening each day. I would suggest getting a reality check on your team as it’s going awful. Internal opportunities don’t pay enough to justify moving, the only option is to take a job at a competitor if you like this type of Industry. I will be leaving as soon as I find another position where I don’t work 70 hour weeks.
