Pros

Remote work option is helpful (unless you're a lower level EE and in CS, they don't give that option to Account Managers unless they hit certain tenure/levels

Cons

Most importantly........EXECUTIVES/C-SUITE GETS UNLIMITED PTO! Repeatedly in their "transparent" Q&As in Zoom, employees keeping asking for unlimited PTO policies and get told consistently "it's not a feasible model", "employees don't utilize PTO enough when it's offered based on our studies". Come to find out, they have this policy existing for them and they aren't being transparent to their workforce. They keep dangling the carrot of a promotion in front of me with repeated "keep working hard on these and we will consider it again".

Pros

Hardworking people in all departments. Great lifelong friendships created.

Cons

For the sales department, territories are all over the place with size and quality. I know this sounds like an old sales excuse but I would be the first to say that I have more accounts than other peers, but there are some that have 6x territory size. And we are held to the same standards with activity and Club numbers. No shock those are the top performers here. In major markets sales, only 37% of sales leaders/manager/executives have been hired from within. We just had a company wide meeting where they blatantly lied to us saying this number was 55%, which is still a bad number. Complete lack of empathy to clients and front line employees. If you talked to any client or frontline employees vs talking to upper management/executives it would sound like they are talk about 2 completely different companies. Implementation and service are sooo underpaid and over-worked they quit daily leaving clients in the dark. As a sales rep I am left trying to assist without the tools to do so. This has now lead to top sales reps leaving the organization and of course there is a perfect excuse for leadership to call this part of "The great resignation". This is a clear example of the lack of empathy with leadership. I have been with PCTY for 6 years and this has been gradually happening year over year. Its obvious shareholders and profits have taken top priority by trying to squeeze more and more out of implementation and service. Its sad to see such a great base of an organization dissolve. The leaders have lost touch of how we got shareholders in the first place, which was creating a great place to work, then in turn, creating happy clients.

Pros

Job security, they do not fire employees unless it is really justified. They do have good managers who truly seem to care about employees. HR department has also been very great if there is ever any HR issue. I also feel comfortable going to my managers or HR with any work/personal issues.

Cons

They are understaffed, and every meeting with the CEO's and executives, they NEVER address the understaffing. In fact a meeting in Q3 2021 with the executives, they stated they've resolved the understaffing in multiple departments, though I've worked in one of those departments and know others in the other department and can confirm they are still understaffed. Though it seems the CEO's and executives don't care about that as long as the money is coming in. The CEO was intentionally 'sugar coating' the understaffing issue, instead of really addressing it. This is terrible as many employees end up having to work 10+ hours of overtime weekly just to keep up. The insane overworking is all year round, not just during our busy season. They keep saying we just need to get through the busy season, but then why has it been busy the past two years? Part of the issue with us being understaffed is they also don't train well enough, there is too much put on the employees (learning multiple processes, payroll, medical benefits, timecards, taxes) when really these multiple processes should be broken out, not all under one person to handle it. This causes extra stress on employes making it so they can not know everything in the site, cause they are doing too many jobs. I NEVER refer people to come work at this job for this reason, it is too much work and not enough employees. I do not recommend working here as you will likely not have a work/life balance. Again there is job security, but you will be overworked.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. At Paylocity and especially thorough the pandemic, we have worked to ensure that we maintain full transparency. The bi-weekly Executive Q&A’s are a great time to ask the Sr. leadership team questions anonymously. We have been transparent in communicating our hiring initiatives and address those departments which are most in need of additional staffing. We will continue to provide updates in real time and can ensure that our Talent Acquisition team is working very hard to recruit top talent.
