Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoy our conferences, remote work, and your team. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with management and work-life balance. We are working hard to ensure employees are able to have work-life balance including but not limited to removing some black out periods and initiatives around workload and process. I do want you to feel that your feedback is being heard, and I would encourage you to reach out to me directly at lriver-haire@paylocity.com to discuss further. Thank you.

Pros

The software is very good, not the best. It’s undergrad not masters level. Plenty of things they cannot do yet, but I’m sure it’s on their road map. The software isn’t the real problem though. It works for mid-market companies who do not need a lot of customization.

Cons

The culture within a growing number of sales teams is really really poor. Everyone seems to praise the CEO and COO, but they really don’t deserve it. They sign off on some of the most absurd micro managing there is in the business. From sending emails to prospects you met with so they can confirm you actually went on the number of presentations you said you had, to the Quality Assurance calls that go to Sales Reps referral partners asking them if they had a meeting with you on such and such a date. Truly undermines your ability to build trust with your prospects and partners. There has been a lot of reps leave recently and not just up and coming reps, but senior reps who are highly successful. It seems Ultimate software, who is actually voted a top 10 place to work by Glassdoor, is welcoming a lot of them with open arms since they pulled the wool over a lot of people’s eyes. This is not the same company most signed up for. They allow unqualified/bad middle management to micro manage a lot of good reps right into the ground. And they are paying for it now with high turnover in their sales division. I’d reach out to people who left the company, should be easy enough to find them, and see what kind of pattern you will see develop with those messages. It’s worth doing your due diligence before interviewing here.

Technical Support

Pros

Decent work to life balance with exception from Nov - Feb -Departments other than Tech Support and Account managers seem to be much better because there is not as much micro-managing.

Cons

-Vacation black out periods from Nov- Feb. -Some weekends required "based on the needs of the business" -Management has no regard for your daily schedule, they will throw un-scheduled meetings on your calendar and just expect you to adjust your day around them -Management doesnt get advice from people in the trenches dealing with the daily struggles, they all make decisions based on THEIR needs, not OUR needs. -No ongoing training and development -Very "clicky" -Most micro-managed job i've ever experienced. Need to let entire team know when you GO, and RETURN from: Personal calls, bathroom, 15 min break, lunch break, etc -Management style is do as I say, not as I (or others on the team) do, constant double standards, tons of mis-information provided then we are expected to find time in our already planned day to work around managements mis-information. -Growth is VERY slow, need to be in dept. at least 1 year before making LATERAL moves. Tons of lateral moves, not much upward growth in Tech Support or being an account manager. Expect to be in tech support 4-5 years before you break 60K at best. -Wages are very stagnant. -Company relies wayyyyy to much on data to track productivity, it DOES NOT paint a real life picture of the day to day inefficiencies (and there are a TON of them)
