Bad ending for Ryzex

Pros

Ryzex was a great company that cared about its employees, but then they sold out to Peak and...

Cons

I was Ryzex, when bought by Peak was presented as merger, it was a lie. Ryzex senior management disappeared within a year and Washington facility was slowly dismantled. We were told Operations business in Bellingham was being supported and new business was "in the pipeline", more lies. After four years the Bellingham Operations facility no longer exists and more than forty employees needed to find new occupations. Perhaps the core Peak facilities are good to work for but watch out if they buy the company where you work. As far as the Ryzex portion of Peak-Ryzex is concerned, Peak took the name, the client base, and some of the sales force, everything else is gone.

We are sorry you were negatively impacted by the re-location of our operations in Bellingham, WA to the east coast and we can definitely see your perspective. However, the market has moved toward more depot repair services now being fulfilled by the vendors and this was the main cause of the changes and not the 2011 merger. Our employees that came into the company from the Ryzex acquisition are critical to the ongoing success of Peak-Ryzex and we regret any time a change in our business conditions or an adjustment in our operational strategy leads to a change in our internal staffing levels.

Lost in the wind.

Pros

Remote work and mostly left alone to do my job.

Cons

No chance for advancement unless you are one of the "chosen ones". The executive in charge of the service team is allowed to reorganize his organization each time the wind blows a different direction. He hands out promotions like candy, yet there is no change in the poor direction of that team.

Pros

Option to work remotely is probably the only pro.

Cons

Owned by a private equity company that is trying so hard to make the company look good that they will trim anyone to save a few dollars. They have gone through multiple waves of lay offs and management tries to keep it hush hush instead of owning up to it. They have laid off essential employees who handled a large workload only to dump that work on others. Communication is extremely poor and you hardly feel connected to the company. The CEO is rather elusive and most people only see or hear from him on the town hall. Don’t expect a bonus. Before our company merged with Peak we were hitting our bonus goal every quarter. Since the merge, we have not received one bonus because of the insane goals created to appease those at the very top. They will also give you the most minimal raise possible and if you try to ask for more, management will tell you they would have to take from a different employee to give you a better raise. As rewards they give you credits towards a storefront that only sells Peak branded merchandise that is ridiculously priced. A company of this size should just be providing tshirts and water bottles with the company name. It’s sad that if managers want to show their appreciation to employees, it comes out of their own pocket. Overall, a very poor company to work for. If you’re looking at these reviews to determine if you want to apply to Peak, please save yourself and don’t do it!

We work very hard to make Peak a Great Place to Work. If as you state you have been with the company for over 4 years then you already know that. Ongoing, transparent communication is the cornerstone of what we do. I would very much like to talk with you and see if I can assist with your concerns. You may contact me directly - you have my contact information. Thank you. Bob Cox, CPO.
